Fan-Free Design
Overview
New designs are removing the fans from touch screen point of sale terminals. These fan-free systems are quieter and better suited to handle harsh environments, like those in restaurant installations. With fewer moving parts and the absence of active air flow, which brings in grease and dirt, the systems promise less maintenance.
The technology behind the new fan-less systems is a by-product of cutting-edge PC design. To create newer & faster computers, engineers have had to design processors that are more power efficient and that generate much less heat. Many of these new processors are designed for laptops or other consumer electronics devices that are required to be both low-voltage and low heat. Using these new processors, points of sale manufacturers have been able to install passive cooling, like larger heat sinks, into point of sale systems to replace fans.
With selling points that include durability in harsh environments, less maintenance and silent operation, fan-less integrated touch terminals provide even more differentiation from a home or office computer.
Posiflex Design
Unlike other fan-less POS terminals, the KS Series does not use liquid cooling or heat pipes. Instead, the fan-free KS Series has been designed and built from the start to provide the very best combination of cool running, high performance, low maintenance, and long life. Its patented heat dissipation design provides higher reliability, more user convenience, quieter operation, fewer service calls, and significantly less chance of “out of service” interruptions.
